Place Logic was engaged to design the outdoor and rooftop areas for the new Rutledge Street development in Queanbeyan.

A pedestrian-centred streetscape is central to the ground floor landscape, integrating the old and the new. This central laneway is envisioned as an "eat street", with dining amenities positioned both sides of distinctive cobblestone paving, which runs through the middle.

At night, the laneway will be illuminated by festoon lighting, creating an ambience that will attract people to the site and encourage longer stays.

The corner square takes advantage of its location to provide a communal gathering space for visitors to enjoy, while providing much needed shade during the summer months.

The heritage buildings will be revitalised by replacing aging plantings with larger garden beds and new species.

The proposed landscape treatments will provide increased amenity which celebrates the history of the buildings and make them a central focus of the site.
