Place Logic was engaged by the Suburban Land Agency to provide landscape architectural design and construction phase services for Whitlam’s village-style innovation precinct.
All landscaped spaces have been created to showcase sustainable, climate-wise designs and to provide a series of places where locals can grab a coffee and find inspiration and information for their homes and gardens.
The precinct’s planting design has been developed based on the Suburban Land Agency’s Climate Wise Garden Designs guidebook, with raw, recycled, upcycled, and locally procured materials, artworks, and plant species arranged in climate wise, edible, and low maintenance garden installations. The landscape spaces include artworks by Indigenous and local creators, an amphitheatre, a nature play zone, decorative and productive planting solutions, vertical gardening designs, water capture and reuse ideas, shade and solar structures, recycled Canberra brick edging, and hardy, native, pollinator plant species wherever possible. The Heartbeat Café was developed between the Suburban Land Agency, it’s Mingle Program and Woden Community Service, and with collaborative design by Place Logic and Stack Space.
